Pool Competition Rules
1) Ball in hand - For every / any foul, it's a free "ball-in-hand" rule. You can place the ball anywhere on the table & take the shot. Except for rule 4.ii)
2) Open Table rules - Regardless of how many solid / stripe balls were potted on the break, the table is still open to take on any group ball (solid or stripes) until a legal shot is made.
3) The Break shot - The cue ball can be placed anywhere on or behind the line to take the break shot .
4) If a player scratches on a legal break shot (shooting the cue ball into a pocket or off the table)
i) it is a foul,
ii) ball in hand (place it anywhere on the line. Forward shot from the line)
iii) the table is open.
5) Making the 8-Ball on the Break
-
Black ball will be re-spotted back on the table if it is pocketed off the break.
-
The person breaking will continue the shot and the table is open to choose either solids or stripes
6) Jump Shots - Only legal jump shots are allowed. Scoop shots are illegal and will result in a foul
7) One foot must be touching the floor when taking a shot.
Moving or touching any ball in any fashion other than legal play, results in a foul.
9) Object ball/balls off the table
-
If the object ball or the cue ball jumps off the table, it is a foul. The jumped object ball is considered pocketed. Ball in hand for the cue ball.
10) Snooker - Either the cue ball or the object ball must hit the cushion AFTER FIRST CONTACT. Failing to do so will result in a foul.
11) No fluke shots allowed - if your group ball is potted in the uncalled pocket - it is not a foul; however, you lose your chance, and the opponent takes the next shot.
12) Call pocket on the black - You lose the game if the black ball is potted in any pockets other than the pocket called.
13) IT IS NOT A FOUL if/when you pot your opponents object ball considering you hit your object ball first. Same rule applies when you're on the 8 ball.
-
The shot continues if you pocketed your object ball/balls along with your opponent's object ball/balls, considering you hit your object ball/balls first.
-
When on the 8 ball, it is a legal shot to pot the 8 ball together with your opponent's object ball (considering you hit the 8 ball first).
